I have been working as a freelance museum educator specialising in early years since 2022, and I am developing a practice in this area that intersects with the role of the atelierista. Working with Royal Museums Greenwich, Orleans House Gallery, Young V&A and The National Gallery, I create playful learning environments that connect to museum collections and exhibits through exploration of materiality and ontology. I aim to value childhood and reflect the positive power of play by situating children as powerful agents in public cultural spaces. My work in this area is also informed by my knowledge of child development and playful pedagogies, incorporating ideas such as Theory of Loose Parts, Heuristic Play and Schematic Play. If your museum or gallery is setting up an early years/families program or revamping its’ existing one, please feel free to get in touch and discuss consultation.
